We own two very high strung and active Border Terriers. They are breed to chase and corner prey, and that is exactly what they do every chance they get. When we purchased our new home here in Bend is wasn’t long before we realized they needed some kind of confinement to keep them on our property, off the golf course and away from the roads. There were several homes in our area that had hidden fence systems and I decided to give one a try. I did considerable research on the computer, and decided on the Dog Watch System based on all the great reviews, superior equipment and guarantee they supplied with their system.
I must admit I was very skeptical that it would work with our Border Terriers but decided to give it a honest try, I figured with Dog Watches guarantee if it didn’t work I would get a good portion of my money back anyway.
It has been over 6 months now and I wouldn’t give up my Dog Watch system for anything. The dogs have the freedom to run around our property, I am not constantly trying to keep an eye on them. After one or two initial breakouts in the first few weeks they have learned their territory and don’t even consider going out of the restricted area.
They have been tempted numerous times by squirrels, birds, other dogs, and people. Not once have they gone past the border! I am truly amazed and still find it hard to believe it works as well as it does….but it does.

We initially looked at the DogWatch® system, but decided to go with a self-install system that operated on an AM frequency. It was significantly less in cost, but proved to be both troublesome and frustrating. The batteries were always wearing out and the system control center was always malfunctioning. The system seemed to be subject to cross interference and on two occasions that we knew of, emitted random shocks to one of our dogs, causing it great trauma.
I wish it just ended at that and I could say that we then decided to purchase the Dog Watch Hidden Fence System, but our decision was made following the death of our beloved dog, Bode, who in the course of a typical busy morning, wandered off with our other dog. Bode was hit and killed by a car. He had not been wearing his fence collar as we had removed them due to his recently receiving random shocks. I realized I would have paid many times the amount of the DogWatch® system in veterinary fees if only we could have saved our Bode. The loss to our family was devastating.
We called to install DogWatch® to protect our remaining dog, Scout. Additionally, we recently adopted a new dog, who DogWatch® gently, but firmly trained in just two days to understand how the fence works. DogWatch® has offered us a peace of mind for which our family is particularly grateful to have.

We have a realtively large yard with exposed openings facing a fairly busy road in front of us and a dense wooded area behind us - a hidden dog fence was the only solution to keeping our dogs in the yard and safe. After installation, the dogs took to the training very quickly. It’s hilarious now, months later, that the local deer have learned how close they can get to our yard and our dogs can’t do anything but barl and watch them go by. Thanks Dogwatch, 10 out of 10, would hidden fence again.
